Biographical Sketch of Pastor J.A. McFarlan

 

       Pastor Joseph A. McFarlan accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 9 and was licensed to preach the gospel at the age of 10. He grew up in Chesterfield County South Carolina. He is a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He was ordained by the St. Paul Association and began his pastoral ministry at the age of 19.

       Pastor McFarlan was educated in the Chesterfield County School System. He did undergraduate studies at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina where he majored in religion and philosophy, and Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies (ABS) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (B.Th.) respectively. Pastor McFarlan completed graduate studies at Luther Rice University and Luther Rice College and Seminary in Atlanta Georgia and holds the Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling (MABC) and the Master of Divinity (MDiv) with a Concentration on Church History. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) at Luther Rice College and Seminary. In addition to serving as the Pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Cheraw, South Carolina, he is also the Moderator of The Chesterfield County Union of Chesterfield County South Carolina.

        Pastor McFarlan resides in Wingate, North Carolina and has been married to the former Marilyn R. Staton of Marshville, NC for 28 years. They are the parents of one daughter, Tamara (Dwayne) Blount. The McFarlans also have one granddaughter, Alexis Blount, a graduate of  Winston Salem State University.
