A Closer Look At The Pastor
Joseph A. McFarlan
No weapon formed against thee shall Prosper.
A native of Chesterfield, South Carolina, Reverend Joseph A. McFarlan was raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Mack and Elizabeth McFarlan, and is the son of Linda McFarlan Jefferson.
Reverend McFarlan was baptized at the age of 9 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Chesterfield, SC, and was licensed to preach at the age of 10 by the late Rev. James Staley. He was ordained at the age of 19 by the request of his home church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Leroy Dubose, and under the auspices of Dr. Waldo Robinson, Moderator of the St. Paul Baptist Association.
Reverend McFarlan was educated in the Chesterfield County School District and completed his post-secondary education at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina and Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina. Additional studies were also completed at The University of Phoenix. He is a graduate of Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. In addition, he attended the Shaw Divinity School Extension Program in Raleigh, North Carolina and Morris College School of Religion Extension. Reverend McFarlan has recently earned the Masters of Arts (M.A.) degree and is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) from Luther Rice Seminary and University in Lithonia, Georgia.
